In 2004, I had the privilege of working at Mercy Home for Boys & Girls for three years—first as a volunteer in one of the residential programs, and later for two years in After Care.
Mercy Home is a Chicago-based children’s charity that provides a safe, stable home for young people who have experienced abuse, neglect, violence, and housing insecurity. Since 1887, Mercy Home has been a place of healing—offering not just shelter, but therapy, education, life skills, and the support kids need to grow into independent adults.
I’m honored to run the 2026 Chicago Marathon as a Mercy Home Hero and raise funds to support this life-changing work. Every donation—no matter the size—helps give kids the safety, care, and opportunity they deserve.
