Training has begun!
Hello! I am so excited to finally be running more again. The weather is a bit warmer, and I've been running about 3 times a week lately. It feels great to run when the sun is coming up and not need to wear tons of layers. Spring is coming! I am also excited to keep raising funds for Mercy Home for Boys and Girls. It is a great organization that helps kids in need. Please make sure to check out their website if you haven't yet. I've been making videos from my runs the past few weeks. I'll try to post some below in case you missed them on FB, Instagram, LinkedIn or Threads. Thank you so much for those who have already donated to make this dream possible. I'm one step closer to reaching my goal of running the marathon, and helping kids while I do it! As of today, I reached a milestone so that I could register for the CARA summer marathon training program. This is happening!!!

A MESSAGE FROM Laura Grace's fundraising page

Hello friends!
I have dreamed of running a marathon since 2006, and this is finally the year it will happen.

I ran my first half-marathon in 2006, and I've run 7 more half-marathons since then, but the full marathon has not happened yet. In 2012, I finished most of the training for the Twin Cities marathon, but I ended up having a tonsillectomy just a few weeks before race day. I took a long break from running when we moved overseas. Having a baby also made it difficult to train.

But 2026 is the year! We moved to Chicago in 2024, and I've been running again for the past year. I'm excited to bring you along with me on this journey as I train to complete the Chicago Marathon.

I'm not only planning to run the marathon to reach a life goal of the last 20 years, but also to help raise money for a great organization. Mercy Home for Boys and Girls is a local Chicago non-profit that provides a safe and stable home for kids in crisis.

Mercy Home started as a home for young homeless boys in 1887, and today there is a campus for boys near downtown and a campus for girls on the far south side. The Mercy Home for Boys is actually just down the block from our home!

Please consider donating $50, $100, or $200 to Mercy Home for Boys and Girls!

Any amount will help!

Not only will this help me reach my marathon goal, but it will go to a great cause.

Once the weather is a bit warmer, I will also start posting running videos on my Facebook and Instagram accounts. Follow me here if you're interested. :)

Thank you for your generous support!
